About Hand Crafted Stoles
The Meghwal Community in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer region of Rajasthan weave local wool into narrow strips, or Patti, that are then stitched to form variety of products like Bardi-Chequered wrap, Pattu Kashida – Wrap with brocading, Dupatta – Stole , Cushion covers, Table runners, Kurta – Tunic, Salwaar – loose pant like garment and bags etc. The base cloth of the pattu is either plain or twill-weaves and the motifs are created through the use of extra weft in an area limited to motif alone. The extra weft is usually of colour in contrast to the base cloth and is inserted after every two picks, thus producing an impression of finely embroidered fabric.
